Bone China vs Porcelain
The major difference between bone china and porcelain is that bone china contains bone ash (yes, that is ground up animal bones, typically from cows) hence the name bone china.
Although being a type of porcelain, bone china is stronger and less likely to chip. However, porcelain can be molded into a larger range of products due to its composition.
Both bone china and porcelain will keep your tea hot, but do place a small amount of hot water into the pot before steeping. Swirl it around to "warm up" your pot. This will prevent cracks especially if your pot is cool to the touch.
